On Monday, October 19, Ukrainian gas station chains updated their fuel price lists. The key takeaway of the day: the cost of all gasoline grades remained stable and unchanged after the weekend, while some networks recorded another price increase for diesel fuel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Thus, the divergence in dynamics between gasoline and heavy/gas positions persists: gasoline has held steady against the backdrop of recent weeks, while diesel and gas continue targeted growth among individual market players.

What changed at SOCAR and UPG networks

The most noticeable adjustments on October 19 were recorded at the SOCAR network. There, the premium diesel fuel DП NANO Extro rose by UAH 1.00 to reach UAH 107.00 per liter. Simultaneously, autogas in this network increased by UAH 1.50 at once, reaching UAH 52.90/l. At the UPG network, the growth affected both diesel positions — upgDIESEL and EURO DIESEL — each of which went up by 60 kopecks per liter. In total, the day in these two networks was marked by a moderate but consistent increase in prices specifically for diesel and gas, rather than gasoline.

Who kept prices at weekend levels

In contrast to SOCAR and UPG, major chains OKKO, WOG, and Ukrnafta kept their price tags at Sunday levels on the first working day of the week, making no adjustments for either gasoline or diesel. This means that for a driver, choosing a specific network on the day of purchase still directly affects the total amount for a full tank: the spread between networks that raised prices and those that froze them remains and can amount to several hryvnias per liter for individual items.

Context: price dynamics since summer

Current adjustments fit into the longer upward trend that the market has recorded since summer. According to the Minfin portal data previously cited by UNIAN (September 14), the average price of a liter of diesel reached UAH 95.94, А-95 premium gasoline — UAH 88.88/l, А-95 — UAH 85.01/l, А-92 — UAH 80.59/l, and autogas — UAH 43.51/l; meanwhile, at individual stations, diesel was already approaching the UAH 100/l mark (at Azimut — UAH 99.95/l, at SOCAR — UAH 99.90/l). Similar RBC-Ukraine reviews from August 24 noted that the choice of gas station on a specific day significantly affects the final cost of fuel. Against this background, today's UAH 107.00/l for premium diesel at SOCAR looks like a logical continuation of the trend rather than a one-off jump.

What this means for the driver

The practical conclusion of the day is simple: if you plan to refuel with gasoline, its price in most networks has not changed, and there is no need to rush your choice. If it is diesel or autogas, it is more profitable to focus on networks that kept Sunday price tags (OKKO, WOG, Ukrnafta), since these items have already risen in price at SOCAR and UPG. Given that the spread between networks for individual items reaches several hryvnias per liter, even on a single full tank, the difference can be a noticeable amount. Future dynamics will depend on wholesale quotes and the exchange rate, which, according to banking analysts, remain a factor for potential new fluctuations.
