French company Bleujour, known for its experiments in creating exclusive computer chassis, has completed an unprecedented custom order. As part of its signature Kubb lineup, specialists developed a unique cubic case made entirely of pure 24-karat gold. This massive exterior element weighing about 13 kilograms serves not only a purely aesthetic purpose but also a strictly functional one, acting as a passive cooling system for all of the computer's high-performance internal hardware.
Engineering Features and Physical Properties of Gold
According to the FanlessTech specialized portal, the standard aluminum chassis of the Kubb line in this exclusive version was replaced with the precious metal. In the base version, the dimensions of the cube are 120 × 120 × 120 mm with a modest weight of 2.1 kg, while the gold modification, due to the material's density, increased in mass to an impressive 13 kg. The case design features special milled fins that significantly increase the total surface area for the most efficient heat dissipation without the use of noisy fans.
Contradictory Data
While some specialized publications emphasize exclusively the unique nature of the development and the high thermal conductivity of the noble metal, exceeding aluminum performance by 30–50%, technical experts point out the clear impracticality of such a solution. From the standpoint of pure thermophysics, copper has even higher thermal conductivity and costs significantly less than gold, but in this project, absolute status and luxury were prioritized over pragmatic engineering calculations of cost and efficiency. In addition, some early reports erroneously claimed that the FanlessTech portal itself was the author of the project, although the actual developer is Bleujour.
Hardware Components and Market Value
Despite the fact that the bulk of the astronomical cost of the finished PC is due precisely to the gold case, the computer's internal hardware platform meets the most modern performance requirements. The device is based on current processors of the Intel Core Ultra 5 225H, Core Ultra X7 358H, or AMD Ryzen AI 5 340 families, supplemented by up to 128 GB of DDR5 RAM. High-speed M.2 NVMe storage drives with a capacity of 1 TB or more with the option to install a second SSD are provided for data storage. Meanwhile, standard serial modifications of Kubb Fanless in an aluminum design are priced starting from approximately 1595 euros, while the exclusive gold version is valued by its creators at a staggering 1.7 million US dollars.
