The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has issued a warning about a sharp change in weather conditions across the country. On July 28, meteorologists forecast the passage of thunderstorm fronts that will bring strong winds and precipitation.

According to data published on Facebook, thunderstorms are expected during the day in the northeastern part of the country, as well as in most central regions. The risk zone includes the Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts. In some areas, meteorologists do not rule out hail and gusts with speeds up to 20 meters per second.

Detailed forecast by region

Throughout the day, the sky will be predominantly cloudy with clearings. Localized short-term rains will occur. At night, significant precipitation is forecast for the central regions, as well as the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv oblasts. Only the east and southeast of Ukraine will remain without rain.

The wind will blow from the northwest at 7-12 meters per second. However, during the day in the western regions, strong gusts reaching 15-20 meters per second are possible.

The temperature background in the country will remain moderate:

  • During the day, the air will warm up to 21-26 degrees Celsius across most of the territory.
  • In the southeast of the country, the temperature will be higher — up to 29 degrees Celsius.

Weather in Kyiv and the region

The capital and the Kyiv region will also be covered by clouds with clearings. Rains, locally with thunderstorms, are expected during the day. The wind in the region will be northwest, 7-12 meters per second. The temperature in the region will be 21-26 degrees Celsius, and in Kyiv itself — 22-24 degrees Celsius.

Debunking rumors of anomalous heat

Alongside the warning about bad weather, meteorologists commented on reports in the media about anomalous heat up to +42 degrees and frosts in August. Meteorologists called this data false, explaining it as confusion with long-term statistics of temperature records, rather than a current forecast.

Recall that in Kyiv, due to previous hot days, the movement of heavy transport was temporarily restricted. Such safety measures are introduced every time the air temperature rises to +28 degrees Celsius and above.
