An emergency level of fire danger has come into effect in Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, the warning covers all regions of the country, with the exception of the Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia oblasts. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine.
Meteorologists warn that current weather conditions are creating a critical situation for ecosystems. There is a high probability of fire ignition and rapid spread in the presence of any ignition sources, including open flames.
Weather forecast: temperatures to rise to 38 degrees
The emergency danger level will remain in effect on August 5 and 6. Dry and hot weather is expected throughout the country during these days. Nighttime temperatures will range from 18 to 23 degrees Celsius. The situation will worsen during the day: in the east and northeast of the country, the air will heat up to 30–34°.
In other regions, even stronger heat is forecasted — up to 35–38 degrees. The wind will blow from variable directions at speeds of 3 to 8 meters per second, which could contribute to the rapid fanning of flames.
Situation in Kyiv and Kyiv region
Meteorologists are paying special attention to the capital region. Dry and hot weather is also forecasted for Kyiv and the Kyiv region. Winds are expected from variable directions at speeds of 3–8 m/s.
In the Kyiv region, nighttime temperatures will be 18–23° Celsius, while during the day the air will heat up to 35–37°. In the capital itself, nighttime temperatures are forecasted at 20–22°, while during the day thermometer readings will rise to 35°.
The extreme heat in August has sparked a wave of discussion among the population. Earlier, meteorologists had already debunked rumors of possible nighttime frosts during this period, while experts discussed the risks of drought and explained what surprises the weather has prepared for this season.
