Ukrainian drivers have received a long-awaited opportunity to issue a Europrotocol in the event of traffic accidents in a fully digital format. This service is now available directly in the state mobile application "Diia", which significantly simplifies the procedure for recording minor accidents without the need to call National Police officers.

Digitalization of Road Safety

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine announced the innovation in his official Telegram channel. According to him, the process has been moved to a smartphone, eliminating paperwork and hours of waiting for patrol officers on the road. This project is the result of joint work between the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the National Police, and the Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine (MTIBU).

Registration Procedure and Conditions

You can use the electronic service only if you meet the clear requirements established by the relevant departments. Traffic accident participants must have all necessary documents in the "Diia" application, including valid insurance policies, and the cars themselves must meet technical criteria for simplified registration. After both parties digitally sign the document, the system automatically sends it to the MTIBU and further to insurance companies.

Contradictory Data

Despite the large-scale digitalization of the process, experts and users note a number of potential difficulties during the transition phase. While official agencies declare the process is completely seamless and the interface is accessible to every driver, industry specialists point out strict technical limitations. In particular, in the event of an unstable internet connection at the scene of the accident or the lack of a full set of documents by one of the parties, the digital system will block registration, forcing drivers to return to the traditional paper form or call police officers.

Next Steps for Drivers

After successfully sending the electronic Europrotocol via the application, citizens are advised to immediately contact their insurance company for further instructions regarding payments. The departments remind that in non-standard situations where conditions do not allow the digital procedure to be applied, drivers are required to use the paper version of the Europrotocol or call the road patrol service.
