On November 7, 2026, Ukrainian singer Iryna Fedyshyn publicly spoke for the first time about the most difficult chapter of her life—the loss of her unborn daughter. In a personal post, the artist detailed the events of that night when, due to a premature placental abruption, she had to undergo emergency surgery, which ultimately resulted in a hysterectomy. According to Fedyshyn, for a long time she lacked the strength to speak about what happened, but decided to share her story so that other women could recognize dangerous symptoms in time. What Happened That Night
According to the artist, she felt well that day and spent time with her family. The first painful sensations appeared in the evening while the family was at the cinema. At first, Fedyshyn assumed these were Braxton Hicks contractions, but the pain began to intensify. She contacted the doctor monitoring her pregnancy and received recommendations on taking medication. When her condition did not improve, another doctor who was supposed to deliver the baby came to her house: according to the singer, the examination revealed no critical signs, and she stayed at home. At night, the pain became unbearable, and at around 3:55 AM, her husband brought her to the maternity hospital in Lviv. There, the medical staff could not detect the baby's heartbeat, and an ultrasound confirmed the child had died. According to Fedyshyn, a doctor whom her husband contacted via video call suspected a complete placental abruption and stressed the need for immediate surgery.
Surgery and Hysterectomy
During the surgical intervention, the medical team discovered significant internal bleeding. To save the artist's life, her uterus was removed. In the medical discharge summary, as Fedyshyn notes, grade III hemorrhagic shock is also indicated. «I lost not only my daughter… I will never be able to give birth to a child again», the singer wrote. This is precisely why she recalls with pain the wishes of fans for her to have another child: following the surgery, this has become impossible.
Questions Regarding Medical Care
Fedyshyn confessed that after the tragedy, she was left with many questions regarding the care provided. In particular, the artist wants to find out why, during the home examination, the baby's heartbeat was allegedly not checked and she was not sent to the hospital earlier. She also claims that at the maternity hospital she had to wait for an ultrasound specialist, and despite her severe condition, she walked between floors on her own, although the medical documentation states she was transported on a gurney.
Family's Reaction
The singer's husband, Vitalii Chovnyk, also commented on the tragedy. He admitted that what they experienced still causes him deep pain, noting that Iryna described the events of that night with restraint, even though the situation was much more complex. Chovnyk promised to disclose additional details regarding the hospital's operations and the decisions made by medical workers, emphasizing that he aims to get answers to the family's questions and do everything possible to prevent such tragedies from happening again.

Despite the pain, Fedyshyn is grateful for her saved life and finds support in her husband, children, and parents. «I don't know what other plans the Lord has for me, but if He preserved my life, it means my story on this earth is not yet over», the artist shared.
