On the morning of September 15, 2026, Kyiv came under a new wave of drone strikes, in which two gas stations were hit — in the Holosiivskyi and Darnytskyi districts, on the right and left banks of the capital. According to the Kyiv City Military Administration and Mayor Vitali Klitschko, in the Holosiivskyi district a UAV landed on the territory of a gas station, causing heavy smoke; emergency rescue services are working at the scene. This is already the second such incident in a single morning: earlier, approximately between 05:34 and 05:42, drone explosions were also recorded in the city.
Timeline of the morning strikes on the capital
According to RBC-Ukraine, citing the Kyiv City Military Administration (KMVA), the first wave of strikes came in the early hours: in the Darnytskyi district a drone hit the territory of a gas station, while in the Obolonskyi district a drone reportedly struck warehouse facilities. Later the same day, a similar incident occurred in the Holosiivskyi district. According to acting head of the board of "Naftogaz" Serhiy Fedorenko, two "Ukrnafta" gas stations were hit — on the right and left banks of Kyiv. He noted that during the air raid alarm the stations had stopped operations, staff were in shelter, and there were no customers on the premises.
Consequences and the work of rescue services
As a result of the morning attack, according to preliminary data, the injured were hospitalized; Klitschko reported heavy smoke in the area of impact. Later, the mayor of Kyiv announced that one of those injured in the attack died in hospital. The State Emergency Service (SES) published photos of the aftermath of the strike and provided its own figures on the number of injured, which, as shown below, differ from the numbers given by the city authorities.
Contradictory data
There is a significant discrepancy in the number of injured between the statements of the parties. According to data cited by RBC-Ukraine from the KMVA and Klitschko, four people were injured in the morning attack, two of them in serious condition. At the same time, the SES states in its announcement that eight people were injured, including six in the Solomianskyi district after a strike on an unoccupied building with no fire. In addition, it is separately reported that one person died in hospital. Thus, the exact final figure of injured and killed at the time of publication remains contradictory: some sources speak of four, others of eight injured plus one who died. The differences are likely due to the data being recorded at different times and in different districts.
Context: the night attack and the question of an energy truce
During the night before the morning strikes, according to available data, around 200 Shahed and "Gerber" strike drones were launched against Ukraine along several directions — from Russian territory, as well as from the temporarily occupied territories of the Donbas and Crimea. Ukrainian air defense neutralized most of the targets, however the drones reached seven locations. Against this backdrop, US President Donald Trump had previously stated that an agreement on an energy truce between Ukraine and Russia had reportedly been reached. At the same time, according to the Financial Times, the Kremlin leader does not plan to conclude such an agreement before winter, hoping to increase pressure on Kyiv with strikes on energy infrastructure — which is in fact confirmed by the series of strikes on gas stations and "Ukrnafta" facilities.
