In Konotop, Sumy region, as of October 27, power supply disruptions have entered their fourth day. According to RBC-Ukraine, citing Konotop Mayor Artem Semenikhin and a commentary from JSC Sumyoblenergo, a significant part of the city remains without electricity and gas following Russian strikes on energy infrastructure carried out on the night of October 24. Water supply in the city is provided on a schedule, and the local hospital has been switched to generator power.
Condition of the energy system and the position of Sumyoblenergo
JSC Sumyoblenergo reported that the situation with electricity distribution in part of the Sumy region, specifically in Konotop, remains difficult. Power engineers are working to restore electricity supply and reconnect consumers who are still without power due to strikes on energy facilities. The company emphasized that under current conditions it is difficult to predict the exact timeframe for full restoration of power supply, as it primarily depends on the security situation in the region.
Impact on municipal services and residents' daily lives
According to Mayor Artem Semenikhin, as of the night of October 27, part of Konotop still lacks access to electricity and gas. As a result of the strikes, educational institutions and the city hospital were damaged and are currently operating on generators. Water supply in the city is organized according to a schedule: water is supplied from 6:00 to 9:00 and from 18:00 to 21:00. The mayor noted that specific deadlines for the full restoration of electricity supply have not yet been announced.
Chronology of events and restoration progress
On the morning of October 24, due to Russian attacks, part of the Sumy region was left without electricity. Power engineers immediately began network restoration work. As of October 27, some consumers have already received power, but a significant portion of city residents continues to go without electricity. Thus, for the fourth consecutive day, a shortage of energy resources persists in Konotop.
Aftermath of the October 24 attacks: casualties and destruction
In addition to damage to energy infrastructure, on October 24 a Russian unmanned aerial vehicle attacked a civilian cattle-breeding enterprise in the Konotop district of the Sumy region. As a result of the strike, a 31-year-old farm worker was killed, and four other people were injured. Animals were also killed and injured during the attack. These events became part of a series of strikes on the region's infrastructure that led to multi-day utility outages in Konotop.
