Residents of Konotop in Sumy Oblast had their electricity fully restored on the morning of Thursday, October 29, 2026. Restoration work was completed on the sixth day following major power outages caused by Russian strikes on the region's energy infrastructure on the night of October 24.

Details of the energy restoration process in the city

According to the press service of the Ukrenergo National Energy Company, all consumers in Konotop have been reconnected to the power grid. Electricity is currently being supplied on a rotational basis to stabilize the power system. The order and sequence of its supply are strictly regulated by duty teams of power engineers.

Ukrenergo expressed special gratitude to all specialists and specialized services who participated round-the-clock in restoring the power supply. Company representatives noted the high professionalism and coordinated actions of the repair teams under extreme conditions.

Background and elimination of strike consequences

Power outages began after a series of nighttime strikes on October 24, 2026, which severely damaged energy facilities. Due to the critical situation, Konotop Mayor Artem Semenikhin announced an urgent need for the city to secure at least 40 tons of diesel fuel to keep emergency generators and invincibility points running.

Parallel to Ukrenergo's efforts, Sumyoblenergo stated that specialized crews had been carrying out repair work continuously. Despite the complexity of the damage, the power engineers managed to gradually return electricity to residents' homes and stabilize the situation in the affected district.

Significance of restoring Konotop's power grid

The return of electricity to Konotop marks the completion of one of the most difficult stages in eliminating the consequences of recent infrastructure strikes in Sumy Oblast. The stabilization of power supplies allows for the resumption of full-scale operations at social facilities, urban infrastructure, and assistance points. Moving forward, power engineers will continue monitoring the grid to prevent emergency situations and maintain stable power supplies for consumers.
