On Tuesday, September 8, 2026, the Ukrainian Cup playoffs kicked off with the first matches of the Round of 32. Two fixtures were played on the first matchday, and at the end of them "Kryvbas" and Sarny's "Mayak" joined the ranks of clubs still in the competition. Both matches ended in victories for the teams that were favorites in their respective ties, and one of them was forced to be suspended for several hours due to an air raid alert.

"Kryvbas" Beats "Olimpia" in Savyntsi

Patrick Van Leeuwen's side came from behind to defeat Savyntsi's "Olimpia" 2:0 away. Venezuelan striker Jackson Rivas opened the scoring in the 30th minute, and that result held until almost the final whistle. The final score was set in stoppage time — in the 92nd minute — by João Machado, who netted the "Vyshka's" second goal. Final result: "Olimpia" Savyntsi — "Kryvbas" — 0:2 (0:1, 0:1); goals: Rivas 30, Machado 90+2.

Sarny's "Mayak" Crushes "Bazis" in Uman

In the other match of the day, two amateur teams met — "Bazis" from Kochubievka and "Mayak" from Sarny — and the fixture was played at the Central Stadium in Uman. As early as the 4th minute, the score was opened by player-coach and former "Dynamo" and "Shakhtar" player Vladyslav Kulach, who scored after a second-stick duel. Less than 20 minutes later, "Bazis" equalized — Mykola Rybak scored in the 21st minute. In the second half, "Mayak" took control of the game: Kulach completed his brace from a penalty (51st minute), another former "Shakhtar" player Andriy Totovytskyi scored in the 64th minute, and Alisher Yakubov sealed the result in the 73rd minute. Final result: "Bazis" Kochubievka — "Mayak" Sarny — 1:4 (1:1, 0:3); goals: Mykola Rybak 21 — Vladyslav Kulach 4, 51 (pen), Andriy Totovytskyi 64, Alisher Yakubov 73.

Air Raid Alert Halts the Match in Uman

Particular attention should be paid to an episode in the "Bazis" — "Mayak" match: in the 66th minute, the teams went on a nearly three-hour break due to an air raid alert. After the game resumed, the score was extended to 1:4 in favor of the Sarny club. This episode once again reminded everyone that, under current conditions, holding football matches requires flexibility in scheduling and attention to the safety of players and spectators.

Context: Schedule and Upcoming Ties

Earlier, the UAF published the schedule for the Round of 32 of the Ukrainian Cup, including the opponents and match dates involving "Dynamo" and "Shakhtar."
