Residents and guests of the Ukrainian capital should take care of public transport payment methods in advance. The Kyiv City State Administration has issued an official warning that from the evening of September 29 to the first half of the day on September 30, 2026, significant disruptions in the operation of digital ticket validation services are possible in the city.

Causes of technical failures and infrastructure attacks

The need for urgent technical work is caused by the consequences of recent enemy attacks on critical data centers that ensure the uninterrupted operation of urban infrastructure. Specialists from relevant departments began servicing and restoring secure communication channels and servers at 22:00 to minimize the risks of long-term disruptions in the transport network.

The issue of the reliability and physical protection of data centers, as well as mobile communication and energy systems amid ongoing hostilities, has repeatedly been discussed at the highest state level. Earlier, at a Stavka meeting, officials emphasized that the threat to digital infrastructure will persist until the end of the war.

Authorities' recommendations for passengers

Due to temporary restrictions, city authorities strongly recommend passengers to use alternative payment methods. The most reliable payment method during this period is direct cashless payment with a bank card or contactless devices directly at the turnstiles.

Citizens who do not have the opportunity to pay with a bank card are advised to purchase the required number of trips in advance onto electronic media before scheduled technical work begins. All previously purchased trips will be validated in normal mode.

Despite the general consistency of official releases, questions arise in various sources regarding the exact timeframe for the full restoration of mobile applications. Some expert channels express concern that repair work may take longer than the KCGA's forecasted timeframe if attacks continue.

An additional factor complicating logistics in the capital was the recent decision of the 'Lanet' provider to temporarily suspend the operation of its Service Center in Kyiv for security reasons. Now all services are provided exclusively remotely.
