New transport for people with disabilities
On August 18, 2026, the capital of Ukraine received another batch of specialized transport from German donors. Two minibuses intended for transporting people with disabilities were handed over to the city as part of humanitarian aid. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported this in his Telegram channel, emphasizing the importance of this support for the rehabilitation and social integration of citizens with disabilities.
The vehicles, manufactured by the company Shüco, are equipped with all necessary equipment for safe transportation, including for those who use wheelchairs. This ensures accessibility of services for those who previously faced difficulties moving around the city.
Targeted use and population coverage
According to the mayor, the new minibuses will be transferred to two city rehabilitation centers, where services are received by about 5,000 children and adults with disabilities. Of these, 400 people require daily transport accompaniment. This means that the new vehicles will significantly improve the accessibility of medical and social assistance for a significant part of the capital's population.
In addition, in the event of an emergency, the vehicles will also be used to temporarily relocate people with disabilities to safe places. This is particularly relevant in the context of ongoing military hostilities, where ensuring citizen safety becomes a priority.
Support from German partners
The transfer of transport was made possible thanks to the cooperation of the company Shüco and the WeAreAllUkrainians initiative. The Mayor of Kyiv expressed gratitude to German partners for this important assistance, noting that such actions contribute to strengthening international ties and supporting Ukrainian society.
Previously, German partners had already transferred new specialized minibuses to the Kyiv City Center for Social Services, ensuring the transport of children with disabilities for regular visits to doctors, rehabilitation, and education. This demonstrates a systematic approach to providing assistance and support to people with disabilities.
Contradictory data
While official information from the Mayor of Kyiv confirms the transfer of two minibuses, some sources indicate possible discrepancies in the number of vehicles transferred. Some reports mention three vehicles, however, this data has not been confirmed by official city representatives. Thus, at this time, the exact number of vehicles transferred remains unclear.
Conclusion
The transfer of specialized transport from German donors is an important step in improving the quality of life for people with disabilities in Kyiv. This not only facilitates access to necessary services but also demonstrates international support for Ukrainian society during difficult times. It is expected that the new minibuses will be actively used to ensure the mobility and safety of citizens with disabilities.
