Klychko: Critical infrastructure object attacked in Kyiv for the first time in months — hot water supply disruptions possible

A targeted strike by Russia on a critical infrastructure object has been recorded in Kyiv. According to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, this is happening for the first time in several months. The incident occurred in the second half of the day and is expected to cause disruptions in hot water supply for residents of several districts of the capital. Meanwhile, the city continues to deal with the aftermath of a massive combined night strike, which, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, resulted in 15 fatalities in Kyiv.

Targeted strike on critical infrastructure

"Today, in the second half of the day, in the capital, for the first time in several months, a critical infrastructure object was deliberately attacked. Residents of Desnianskyi and parts of Dniprovskyi districts may experience disruptions in hot water supply," Klitschko stated. According to him, specialists have already begun restoring the damaged infrastructure. Thus, the strike affected not residential areas directly, but engineering networks on which the heating of entire districts depends.

Casualties from shelling in Holosiivskyi district

A separate incident was recorded in the Holosiivskyi district: drone debris fell on a business center building. "One dead and two injured were found inside a business center in Holosiivskyi district, where UAV debris fell on the building. Rescuers continue to search the building," the mayor reported. Kyiv Police confirmed that a 50-year-old man died as a result of the drone shelling, and two more people were injured; specialized services are working at the scene, documenting the consequences of the attack, taking statements from citizens, and assisting the injured.

Night combined strike: scale of destruction

The daytime incident was a continuation of the night attack: during the night, a massive combined strike was launched against Kyiv and the region; the air raid alert in the capital lasted about nine hours, with the main impact falling on Kyiv Oblast. According to Zelenskyy, the night shelling damaged 30 residential buildings, a school, a hospital, and a kindergarten; at the time of the statement, 15 fatalities are known in Kyiv. Brovary district was also hit, where a KLO network oil depot was struck. Furthermore, logistics centers of well-known brands suffered significant damage — preliminary data indicates that "Fora" and Yves Rocher warehouses were hit.
