Kyiv's public transport has been replenished with a new batch of modern electric vehicles. The city has started operating another 8 trolleybuses, aimed at improving the comfort and accessibility of travel for the capital's residents.

New trolleybuses on the streets of Kyiv

As reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a statement by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko on Telegram, the city continues its program to update its vehicle fleet. The head of the capital emphasized that the priority is to increase the accessibility of public transport for all categories of citizens.

According to Vitali Klitschko, the length of each of the delivered trolleybuses is 12 meters. The transport fully meets modern requirements for barrier-free access and passenger comfort.

Technical specifications and comfort

The new trolleybuses are equipped with a number of features aimed at improving the quality of service:

  • Barrier-free access: The transport is equipped with foldable ramps and a low floor level. This ensures convenient transport for people with disabilities, parents with strollers, and other persons with reduced mobility.
  • Climate control: Modern air conditioning and heating systems have been installed in the salons, guaranteeing a comfortable temperature regardless of the season.
  • Information systems: Passengers can use electronic information displays and an automatic stop announcement system.
  • Safety and lighting: The transport is equipped with video surveillance cameras, as well as modern energy-saving LED interior lighting.

Context of modernization

Vitali Klitschko noted that this is already the second batch of trolleybuses delivered to the city as part of a contract between the municipal enterprise "Kyivpastrans" and the company LLC "Polytechnoservice". The capital received and put into service the first 8 similar trolleybuses of this series in June of this year.

The update of the trolleybus fleet is part of a comprehensive program to modernize urban infrastructure. Previously, Kyiv's fleet was also replenished with 85 modern buses purchased under a credit agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as part of the large-scale state project "Urban Public Transport of Ukraine".
