Choosing a date for a salon visit is increasingly tied not only to a free slot in the schedule but also to the lunar calendar. According to folk beliefs, the moon phases are supposedly linked to hair growth rates, while certain days are attributed as 'money' days — favorable for attracting financial luck. Styler magazine (a project by RBC-Ukraine) published a selection of dates for November 2026, explaining when it is worth updating your hairstyle and when it is better to postpone radical image changes.

Moon Phases in November 2026

Before choosing a haircut day, the calendar authors advise focusing on the main phases. The new moon symbolizes the beginning of a new cycle and, traditionally, is not considered the best time for appearance experiments: a radical change of image is recommended to be postponed. In particular, November 9 is suggested to be dedicated to choosing a hairstyle, searching for references, and consulting with a master, while planning the haircut itself for another day. The full moon falls on November 24 — in traditional calendars, this day is sometimes associated with heightened emotionality and it is advised not to make impulsive appearance decisions.

Waxing and Waning Moon: When to Get a Haircut

The waxing moon is traditionally considered a favorable time for those who want to refresh their look. The period from November 10 to 23 can be used to trim split ends, change length, or try a new haircut shape, as well as prepare for important meetings and holidays at the end of the month. The waning moon, conversely, is associated with preserving the result: these dates are suitable if you only need to trim the ends, refresh the haircut, or maintain its shape without planning radical changes.

'Money' Haircuts According to the Lunar Calendar

In folk omens, certain dates are attributed a symbolic connection with financial luck, abundance, and opportunities. According to Styler, to 'attract money,' it is recommended to get a haircut on November 6, 13, 19, and 29. At the same time, the editorial board emphasizes that these dates are entertaining and rely on folklore notions rather than proven mechanisms.

Discrepancies Between Calendars

Other publications publish their own lists. For instance, the calendar on the izh.kp.ru portal advises postponing haircuts from November 2, 8, 9, 18, 19, 24, 27, and 28, calling these eight dates unsuccessful or difficult for a noticeable hairstyle change. It is clear that recommendations from different calendars do not always match: for example, Styler classifies November 19 as a 'money' favorable day, whereas kp.ru includes it in the list of dates best skipped. November 9 and 24, on the contrary, are considered undesirable for radical changes by both sources.

Scientific Perspective

It is important to consider that, according to the authors, there are no scientific grounds to believe that a haircut during a full moon or any other moon phase itself worsens hair condition. How long a haircut stays neat depends primarily on its shape, hair structure, and growth rate, rather than the lunar cycle. Thus, the lunar haircut calendar is primarily an entertaining and cultural format that can be used as an occasion to discuss the desired result and necessary care with your hairdresser in advance.
