Such values fall into the category of quiet geomagnetic conditions and show no signs of an approaching disturbance. In other words, no strong geomagnetic storm is expected today or over the next 24 hours.

NOAA Data: Maximum Below the Storm Threshold

Operational data was released by the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center. In the forecast covering the period from September 4 to 6, the highest expected Kp index value is 2.67. This level remains well below the threshold at which the first category of geomagnetic storm, G1, begins. On the NOAA scale, the G1 threshold is reached at Kp 5, meaning the forecast maximum for these three days is almost half the storm boundary. For this reason, there is no basis for speaking of a "real" magnetic storm over the weekend.

Nevertheless, even this peak level does not reach the G1 category, so it is classified as a moderate rather than a storm-level disturbance. The weekend will most likely pass without a powerful geomagnetic storm.

September Outlook and Forecast Dynamics

Experts emphasize that the space weather forecast is dynamic: solar activity can change within a short period, so NOAA data are updated periodically. According to preliminary assessments, the first half of September should pass relatively quietly overall, although periods of elevated geomagnetic activity are possible toward the end of the month. It is recommended to monitor the situation through the latest forecast updates. Thus, for September 4–6, no strong magnetic storm is forecast, and the expected Kp maximum of 2.67 remains below the geomagnetic storm scale level.
