On the afternoon of July 31, the city of Odesa was subjected to a new attack by Russian occupiers. This time, the enemy used attack drones, resulting in damage to critical infrastructure and educational institutions. According to preliminary data, there are casualties among the civilian population as a result of the strike.
Information about the attack was confirmed by the head of the Odesa City Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak, in his Telegram channel. According to him, enemy drones struck the city, damaging building roofs, including an educational institution.
Scale of the Air Threat
The attack on Odesa was part of a large-scale operation by Russian forces against Ukraine. On the night of July 31, Russia launched an unprecedented number of attack drones — 255 units. They were directed at various regions of the country, placing a serious strain on the air defense system.
According to official data, Ukrainian air defense forces managed to shoot down or suppress 195 enemy drones. However, hits from 22 attack drones were recorded at 14 locations. Additionally, debris from shot-down aircraft fell on four other territories, creating additional risks for residents.
Strikes on Other Regions
In addition to Odesa, Russian forces attacked facilities in other regions of Ukraine. On the morning of July 31, drones struck a postal terminal in the suburbs of Kharkiv. A strike was also recorded at a Nova Poshta branch in the Vinnytsia region, where people were injured as a result of the attack.
These events highlight that Russia continues to use drones as the main tool for striking civilian infrastructure and logistics facilities. Such attacks not only cause material damage but also pose a threat to the lives and health of civilians.
Response of Authorities and Population
Authorities in Odesa and other affected regions are urging citizens to observe safety measures and remain in shelters during air raids. Rescue services are working in an enhanced mode, eliminating the consequences of attacks and assisting the injured.
Despite the difficult situation, Ukrainians demonstrate resilience and readiness to resist aggression. However, every new strike reminds us of the price that must be paid to defend the country's independence.
