A large-scale fire occurred in the south-east of the Russian capital. The fire engulfed a production warehouse located at 10 Avtomobilny Proezd. The area of the fire reached an impressive 3,000 square meters, which required the involvement of significant emergency services and aviation resources.

Scale of the operation and work of rescuers

In the footage that appeared in the media, thick black smoke can be clearly seen billowing from the walls of the burning building. The situation at the scene of the emergency was tense: a large number of fire brigades arrived at the scene. Rescuers who arrived to extinguish the fire gave comments to journalists, who also responded promptly to the signal.

The scale of the operation is explained by the huge area of the fire — 3,000 m². To effectively extinguish the fire, it was decided to involve aviation. Helicopters worked in close proximity to the fire source, helping ground teams to cope with the flames.

Results of liquidation and causes of the emergency

The situation was brought under control: the fire was localized. According to information published by the EMERCOM of Russia after 5 a.m. on Saturday, there were no victims or casualties as a result of the incident. At the moment, authorities state that the exact cause of the fire is unknown.

The incident in south-east Moscow is taking place against a backdrop of heightened tension in the region. Lately, Moscow and the region have been regularly attacked by drones, which often leads to fires and destruction. The Mayor of the capital, Sergey Sobyanin, publishes daily messages about the movement of UAVs over the city. Videos of drone flights, as well as the consequences of their work — explosions and fires caused by the impact of munitions or air defense systems — regularly appear online.

The incident on Avtomobilny Proezd is not an isolated case in recent times. A series of fires in the Moscow region and Moscow is gaining momentum:

  • Early morning of July 20: An oil depot caught fire in the Moscow region after a drone attack.
  • Early morning of July 18: A Wildberries marketplace train was engulfed in powerful flames in Elektrostal.
  • July 1: The Space Communications Center of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation near Moscow was hit by fire. As a result of the strike by the Ukrainian Defense Forces, the main technical building of the complex, as well as the tower with parabolic antennas, were damaged.

These events highlight that the infrastructure of the capital region remains vulnerable to modern threats, and fire services are forced to work in a mode of heightened readiness.
