Night Alarm: Over a Hundred Drones Attack Moscow and the Region, Infrastructure Facilities Damaged

On the morning of Tuesday, July 28, Moscow and the Moscow region faced a large-scale attack by unmanned aerial vehicles. The events unfolded in the early hours, while the city was still asleep, but air defense systems were put on combat readiness. The capital's mayor, Sergey Sobyanin, began informing residents about the situation via his Telegram channel around five in the morning.

Large-Scale Air Defense Operations

The first message from the city mayor, published at 4:38, stated that the Ministry of Defense's air defense system had destroyed twelve UAVs heading towards Moscow. However, this was only the first stage of the report. Over the next hour, five more messages followed, in which Sobyanin detailed the course of the fight against the aerial threat.

According to the mayor, enemy drones surrounded the capital from all sides. Emergency services were deployed at all locations where debris fell to eliminate consequences and prevent fires. The mayor's last message regarding the drones was recorded at 5:42. In total, the Russian air defense system repelled the attack, destroying approximately a hundred drones.

Attack Consequences: Fires in the Region

The attack was not limited to the airspace above the capital. Facilities within the radius of the Moscow region were also subjected to strikes. As a result of the aerial activity, serious incidents involving fires occurred.

One of the damaged facilities was a major logistics center of the Wildberries marketplace, where a fire broke out. Additionally, fire engulfed the territory of the industrial enterprise ZAO "Hydrostalconstruction" in the city of Chekhov. According to available data, a drone fell or hit a pipe on the factory grounds, which triggered the fire.

Emergency Services Response

Emergency service specialists worked at the debris fall sites around the clock, striving to localize fire sources and ensure public safety. The situation in the region remains under control, however, the scale of the attack indicates a serious threat faced by the authorities and residents of the capital.
