Mykhailo Mudryk, winger for London's Chelsea and the Ukrainian national team, has once again found himself at the center of a major scandal, this time legal in nature. The footballer lost a case at the Dispute Resolution Chamber of the Ukrainian Association of Football (UAF) regarding a lawsuit filed by his former agent, Alexey Alekhin.
The essence of the conflict: unpaid commissions
The lawsuit against Mudryk was filed by Alexey Alekhin, representing the company ALIK Group. The claims concerned the non-payment of a portion of commissions following the player's transfer from Donetsk's Shakhtar to Chelsea in January 2023.
As journalist Mykhailo Spivakovsky reported on the "TaToTake" program, the Chamber partially satisfied the former agent's claim. The conflict arose from the final financial stage of their cooperation: Mudryk is required to transfer the final installment of 1.3 million euros to the company. Since the funds were not received, Alekhin's lawyers turned to football justice.
Positions of the parties and next steps
Representatives of ALIK Group are refraining from public statements and have refused to comment on the decision. It is expected that the UAF will officially publish the verdict of the Dispute Resolution Chamber at the end of July in a special press release.
Although Mudryk lost the first stage of consideration, this ruling is not yet final. The midfielder retains the right to appeal the UAF's decision — but only at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne.
Football career vs. legal battles
While the 25-year-old Ukrainian is experiencing an extremely intense period in his career, unfortunately, it is more related to legal battles off the football field. While fans await his return to peak form, Mudryk is forced to spend time and resources resolving financial disputes with his former representative.
This case once again reminds us of how complex the relationships between players and agents can be, especially when it comes to multi-million euro transfers and unfulfilled obligations.
