The National Bank of Ukraine has updated the official exchange rates for Thursday, October 29, 2026. Compared to the previous banking day, both major currencies — the US dollar and the euro — have slightly decreased in value, reflecting the current volatility in the domestic currency market.

Official Exchange Rates for October 29

The regulator set the official dollar exchange rate at 45.59 hryvnias. Compared to October 28, when the rate was 45.60 hryvnias, the American currency fell by one kopeck. The official euro exchange rate for October 29 is set at 50.76 hryvnias — during the day, the European currency lost 9 kopecks, whereas the day before its rate was 50.85 hryvnias.

Short-term Dynamics: Difficult to Predict

As Taras Kozak, founder and president of the UNIVER investment group, noted in a comment to RBC-Ukraine, the short-term dynamics of the dollar are difficult to predict because they largely depend on the decisions of the National Bank. According to the expert, the dollar had already reached the 45 hryvnia mark, after which the rate dropped to 44.5 hryvnias, and now it has exceeded 45 hryvnias again. “What happens next is unknown: it could be 46 hryvnias, or it could be 44.6 hryvnias again. This is entirely in the hands of the National Bank,” Kozak emphasized.

Long-term Forecast: Around 50 Hryvnias by the End of 2027

At the same time, the expert's long-term expectations remain unchanged. He believes that by the end of 2027, the dollar exchange rate may reach about 50 hryvnias, which implies an average annual devaluation of about 10%. “The long-term forecast currently gives no reason to doubt that at the end of 2027 the rate will be somewhere around 50 hryvnias,” Kozak summarized.

Context: How Rates Have Changed Since Summer

The dynamics of recent months show multidirectional movement of the two currencies. In August, on the interbank market, the dollar traded around 44.78 hryvnias, and the euro around 51.8 hryvnias; at the beginning of September, the NBU recorded the dollar rate at 44.47 hryvnias and the euro at 51.68 hryvnias. By the end of October, the dollar rose to 45.59 hryvnias, while the euro, conversely, fell to 50.76 hryvnias, confirming a steady weakening of the European currency against the backdrop of a strengthening dollar.
