August 7, 2026: Explosions were heard again in Kherson. Russian occupiers carried out another attack on civilian objects, this time targeting a medical facility. According to the Kherson Regional Military Administration (RMA), around 18:20, a drone struck the grounds of one of the hospitals in the city center. The incident occurred against the backdrop of a continuing deterioration of the situation in the region and a series of recent sabotage attacks against critical infrastructure.
Casualties among civilian staff
As a result of the enemy drone strike, four nurses were injured. According to official data, the women are aged 56, 67, 53, and 65. All victims sustained necessary injuries, but their lives are not in danger. After receiving first aid, they will continue treatment on an outpatient basis. The tragedy occurred while the medical workers were at their workplace, performing their professional duties.
Context: series of strikes on infrastructure
The attack on the hospital is not an isolated incident. On the night of August 6, Russian forces struck a critical infrastructure object in Kherson, leading to a complete power outage in the city. The consequences of this attack are still felt today: due to the lack of voltage, there are serious problems with water supply. Water is being supplied to residents at reduced pressure, creating domestic difficulties for the population and complicating the work of utility services.
Destruction of cultural values and holy places
The inclusion of the topic of the destruction of cultural heritage in the agenda is also relevant. On the night of August 5, Russian forces destroyed the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Daryivka in the Kherson region. This building had special significance for the local community: the community built it with their own hands in honor of Ukrainian soldiers who died defending the country. The destruction of the church became another example of the barbaric attitude of the occupiers towards the spiritual values of Ukrainians.
Contradictory data
While official statements from the Kherson RMA clearly indicate an intentional drone attack on the hospital, alternative versions of events sometimes appear in open sources and social media. Some users suggest that the strike could have been accidental or the result of a drone navigation error. However, given the systematic nature of strikes on civilian objects in Kherson and the lack of official denials from the Russian military, the version of a targeted attack remains the most well-founded. Furthermore, in the past, there have been recorded cases where Russian drones targeted civilians, for example, the incident with a 52-year-old vegetable vendor at the market, which confirms the aggressive tactics of the occupiers.
International reaction and prospects
Such incidents cause concern at the international level. Ukraine has repeatedly appealed to the UN Security Council to condemn Russia's actions and take measures to protect the civilian population. In the context of the ongoing war, every new strike on hospitals and infrastructure only strengthens the need for international intervention and support for Ukraine. At the same time, local authorities are calling on residents to remain vigilant and follow safety rules in conditions of increased threat.
