In August 2026, procedures for document processing and border crossing have been significantly simplified for passengers planning international trips. "Ukrzaliznytsia" and the State Migration Service of Ukraine (SMSU) have synchronized processes, allowing data to be entered in tickets in both Ukrainian and English. This innovation, alongside the launch of new logistical routes, aims to make travel more comfortable and safe.

Transliteration and allowable errors in tickets

One of the main concerns for travelers remains the correct spelling of names and surnames in tickets. According to the new rules, when purchasing a ticket in Ukrainian, the system automatically transliterates data according to SMSU standards. This eliminates the need for manual entry in Latin characters, which often led to errors in the past. Experts emphasize that minor discrepancies between the spelling in the ticket and the international passport do not cause problems during border control. Moreover, up to three errors in the name and surname are permitted in the ticket — the document is still considered valid, and the passenger can pass border control without hindrance.

Direct transfer from Kyiv to Moldova's airport

For passengers traveling from Kyiv to Chișinău, a new convenient option for reaching Moldova's airport has been launched. Train No. 351/352 now stops at Revaca station, located in close proximity to Chișinău International Airport. The Moldovan side has prepared free bus services that transport passengers from the railway station directly to the terminal. High demand for this route was confirmed after a successful test trip, indicating the popularity of combined rail-road transport. It is important to note that the stop at Revaca station operates only in the direction from Kyiv to Chișinău.

Action algorithm in case of security threats

Given ongoing security challenges, the carrier reminds passengers of the existing rules of conduct on trains. In the event of conflicts or threats in the carriages, a clear response algorithm is in place. Passengers are advised to immediately contact the conductor or train chief, who are obligated to call law enforcement officers at the nearest station. This procedure aims to ensure passenger protection and a rapid response to potential threats, maintaining a high level of safety on railway transport.

Restoration of services and comfort

In addition to logistical and legal innovations, "Ukrzaliznytsia" continues to restore and develop passenger services. Vending machines with snacks and drinks have returned to suburban trains of increased comfort, significantly enhancing the level of comfort during the trip. These measures are aimed at creating the most convenient conditions for passengers who choose railway transport for their travels both within the country and abroad.
