New Tasks for Igor Klimenko: Zelenskyy Sets Priorities for NSDC Secretary

Vladimir Zelenskyy has officially introduced the new Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), Igor Klimenko. In his statement, the President of Ukraine outlined the key areas of work that will become priorities for the new head of the agency.

Experience in Coordinating Law Enforcement Agencies

The head of state noted that Klimenko has already proven his effectiveness as Minister of Internal Affairs. It was at the Ministry of Internal Affairs that he demonstrated the ability to build coordinated work between various law enforcement and rescue services. Now, this experience must be scaled up to the level of national security.

According to Zelenskyy, the same coordinating function performed by the Minister of Internal Affairs must be maximally strengthened within the framework of the NSDC's work. This is necessary to ensure that all structures act as a single mechanism.

Winter Preparation and Localization of Production

One of the main tasks for the new Secretary will be to ensure interaction between the government, the President's Office, the military command, and intelligence services in the run-up to the winter period. Zelenskyy emphasized that coordinated action is critically important given the current situation.

Furthermore, the President set a task to accelerate preparations for the localization of production in Ukraine as much as possible. This refers to air defense systems, necessary missiles, and other types of weapons required to protect the country.

Cybersecurity and Information Warfare

Among the strategic priorities for Igor Klimenko are countering cyber threats from Russia and fighting Russian disinformation. These areas require special attention and coordinated action at the NSDC level.

Vladimir Zelenskyy expressed the expectation that the new Secretary will propose concrete solutions to achieve greater results. Earlier, the country announced an update to the approaches to the work of the National Security Council, within which zones of responsibility were redistributed between Klimenko and Rustem Umerov.
