The Kyiv City Military Administration (KMVA) has officially confirmed the death of one person as a result of the night attack on the Ukrainian capital. The announcement was made on the department's social media channels around 02:55.
"Unfortunately, the death of one person has been confirmed. Our sincere condolences to the relatives and loved ones," the administration stated, expressing grief over the tragedy.
Timeline of events
On the night of July 30, Kyiv was struck by ballistic missiles. The alert system activated around 01:07, warning residents of the threat of an attack. Within minutes, powerful explosions were heard throughout the city.
The aftermath of the attack was recorded in two districts of the capital — Sviatoshyn and Obolon. According to eyewitnesses and emergency services, the fires were caused by falling missile debris.
Warning from the President
The likelihood of a massive strike on Kyiv had been discussed in advance. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, several days before the incident, stated that Russia was preparing a large-scale attack and urged citizens to pay special attention to air raid sirens specifically on this night.
