On the night of August 30, 2026, the Russian Armed Forces carried out a combined strike on Ukrainian territory, employing ballistic missiles and a massive formation of attack drones. According to data published by the Ukrainian Air Force through its Telegram channel and relayed by RBC-Ukraine, the enemy launched two Iskander-M ballistic missiles from the territory of Kursk Oblast, as well as 130 attack drones. Preliminary information indicates that air defense shot down the overwhelming majority of the drones, although impacts of munitions have been recorded at various locations.
Scale and directions of the strike
According to the Air Force, the attack consisted mainly of Shahed-type jet drones, as well as Herber aircraft, S8000 Bandierol drones, and Parodiya-type decoy drones. The directions of the attack indicated by the Ukrainian Armed Forces covered both Russian territory and occupied zones: Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russian Federation), as well as the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Hvardiiske (TOTT of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea). Consequences and impacts
Impacts of the enemy's aerial attack munitions have been recorded at 13 locations, as well as the fall of debris from shot-down drones at 4 locations. In addition, on the evening of Saturday, August 29, and on the night of August 30, the Russians once again attempted to attack Kyiv with jet drones: as a result of the shelling, fires were recorded in several districts of the city, and there are casualties. The exact number of victims and the extent of the damage were being clarified at the time of publication.

Context: the destructive potential of the Iskander
The use of Iskander-M ballistic missiles in such night strikes remains one of the most dangerous scenarios for civilian infrastructure. Previously, according to Ukrainian media, an Iskander strike on a residential building near Kryvyi Rih claimed the lives of at least five members of a single family, vividly demonstrating the consequences of even a single ballistic projectile that gets through.
