Late in the evening of July 16, Odesa once again became a target for Russian missiles. The consequences of the attack were severe: the number of casualties rose to ten, including children. Two people were killed. This was reported by the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Kiper, in his Telegram channel.
Tragedy in the park
Among the deceased was a woman who was walking in the park with her children. Fortunately, the children survived. Their condition is currently undisclosed, but the fact of their survival remains the only comforting news in this tragic story.
Damage and fires
In the Odesa district, a service station (garage) building was destroyed as a result of the shelling. Following the strike, a fire broke out, engulfing not only the building itself but also cars parked nearby. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties or injuries in this specific incident.
Residential buildings, religious and preschool institutions, vehicles, and other civilian infrastructure objects were also damaged. Work to eliminate the consequences of the attacks continues at the scene. All relevant services are involved, from firefighters to rescue teams.
Documenting war crimes
Law enforcement agencies have already begun documenting the latest war crimes committed by the Russian Federation against the civilian population. Photos of the attack's aftermath are circulating on social media, including the t.me/odeskaODA channel, which publishes images of destroyed buildings and burnt-out cars.
Series of strikes on Odesa
This is not the first strike on the city in recent days. On the afternoon of July 16, Russian forces had already struck Odesa — one person was killed and several others were injured. The day before, on July 15, the city was also subjected to a missile attack: people were killed, and residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were damaged.
The situation remains tense. Local authorities are urging residents to observe safety measures and avoid being in potentially dangerous areas. Work to restore the destroyed and assist the injured continues around the clock.
