Former Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and former Ambassador to the USA, Olga Stefanishina, has received an official suspicion from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO).

The investigation accuses the official of illicit enrichment in the amount of over 13.9 million UAH, as well as knowingly entering false information into her income declaration.

Essence of the accusations: hidden assets and income discrepancies

According to law enforcement data, Stefanishina owned and used assets that she registered in the names of her relatives and subordinates. According to the case materials, information about this property was absent from her official declarations.

A key element of the investigation was the discovery of a discrepancy between the official's official income and her actual expenses. During the period from the beginning of 2024 to the middle of 2025, Olga Stefanishina officially earned about 3.7 million UAH. At the same time, approximately 4.2 million UAH was spent solely from her personal bank accounts.

Real estate scandal near Kyiv

Particular attention from the investigation was drawn to a real estate transaction. Law enforcement officers found out that the former ambassador was negotiating the purchase of a house near Kyiv for an estimated $550,000.

According to the terms of the deal, $250,000 was planned to be paid in cash, and the remaining amount was to be transferred by exchanging it for two apartments in the "Fine Town" residential complex. It is noted that the official refused this agreement only after being appointed to a diplomatic post abroad.

Preventive measure and qualification

The court selected a preventive measure for Olga Stefanishina in the form of a bail of 6 million UAH.

The official's actions are qualified under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • Article 368-5 (illicit enrichment);
  • Part 2 of Article 366-2 (knowingly entering false information into a declaration in an especially large amount).

Reaction of the ex-minister

Olga Stefanishina made an official comment immediately after receiving the suspicion. She stated that she provided journalists with all documents regarding the apartment that the investigation had questions about, and emphasized that she "had nothing to hide".

In her statements, the former official also noted that she does not plan to work in public service in the future.
