As of 31 August 2026, the Pension Fund of Ukraine financed pension payments in the amount of 75.8 billion hryvnia. According to RBC-Ukraine, citing fund data, this figure is 1.4 billion hryvnia higher than the July result, when 74.4 billion hryvnia was allocated to the same expense category. Thus, the volume of pension payments grew over a single month, reflecting both indexation and an expansion of the circle of recipients.

Main pension payments

The growth in funding for basic pensions became the main component of the fund's August expenditures. The sum of 75.8 billion hryvnia transferred by 31 August forms the foundation of social support for elderly Ukrainians and those who have lost their ability to work. Compared with July (74.4 billion hryvnia), the trend is positive, indicating that the state's obligations to pensioners are being maintained and increased amid ongoing budgetary pressures.

Housing subsidies and insurance payments

In addition to basic pensions, Ukrainians received 1.5 billion hryvnia in housing subsidies and benefits in August — 100 million hryvnia more than in July (1.4 billion hryvnia). Insurance payments are listed as a separate line item: 3.2 billion hryvnia was allocated to them in August, of which 1.8 billion hryvnia went directly to the payment of sick leave. Taken together, these categories show that the fund continues to finance both temporary disability and assistance with housing and utility payments.

Social benefits and other payments

The volume of social benefits and other payments in August amounted to 11.2 billion hryvnia, compared with 11 billion hryvnia in July. This small but steady increase in the category confirms that the fund supports a wide range of targeted payments that go beyond the classic pension. In total, all the listed directions form a significant monthly expenditure block, which the Pension Fund provides within the approved budget.

Pensions for special merits to Ukraine

Particular attention should be paid to the category of pensions for special merits to the state, which is entitled, among others, to fighters for Ukraine's independence in the 20th century. From 1 March 2026, the amount of such a payment is 5,667 hryvnia 51 kopecks per month. This amount was fixed following the latest review and is in force during the current reporting period, including August 2026.

Overall, the Pension Fund's August data show a moderate but consistent growth in all key payment categories compared with July. For recipients, this means the preservation and a slight increase in real income, while for the budget — the continuation of a high level of social obligations in 2026.
