Philip Morris in Ukraine has taken first place in the prestigious ranking of the country's best employers, compiled by NV in partnership with Odgers. The results of the large-scale study were announced during the business event "Business and New Challenges," where leading Ukrainian and international companies discussed strategies for adapting to current economic realities.
Leadership Amid Large-Scale Changes
NV Editor-in-Chief Vitaliy Sych noted during the awards ceremony that the winner managed to secure the highest score based on comprehensive surveys, questionnaires, and in-depth labor market research. Artem Konik, General Manager of Philip Morris in Ukraine, commenting on the award, emphasized that the company does not purposefully work for ratings, but such recognition serves as an important confirmation of its chosen strategic course.
Company management emphasizes that a strong value proposition for employees is built on large-scale projects, substantial budgets, and a high level of responsibility. At the same time, in new business areas, teams often operate on a startup principle, independently building processes from scratch and gaining wide scope for independent decision-making.
Employee Support and Team Investment
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the company has channeled over 1 billion hryvnias into comprehensive support for employees and partners. This includes evacuation programs, partial housing rent compensation, financial and psychological assistance, and equipping teams with charging stations to work during potential blackouts. Following the shutdown of production at the hub factory, the business continued to pay full wages to the team for a year and a half.
In 2024, the company invested 30 million US dollars in opening a new production complex in the Lviv region in western Ukraine. In addition, management regularly allocates targeted payments for winter season preparation so that employees can independently cover their most urgent domestic needs depending on their living conditions.
Personnel Development and Employee Wellbeing
Professional growth and health care remain key priorities of the company's human resources policy. Last year alone, investments in corporate training and workshops exceeded 9.8 million hryvnias, helping employees master new product categories and digital tools effectively.
To support mental and physical health, the organization has created a multi-layered wellbeing ecosystem. Employees have 24/7 access to consultations with specialized experts, legal and financial support, and specialized platforms for regular medical checkups and psychological assistance.
Strategic Significance of Corporate Resilience
The recognition of the company as Ukraine's best employer demonstrates the high resilience of large international business amid systemic challenges. The experience of Philip Morris shows that long-term investments in human capital, transparent career opportunities, and flexible working conditions allow not only preserving personnel potential but also effectively developing new economic directions even during a crisis.
