In the autumn of 2026, large-scale military exercises aimed at providing security guarantees for Ukraine will take place on Polish territory. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, confirming that Warsaw will serve as the venue for the joint training of international forces.

Participants and Objectives of the Maneuvers

According to the Polish Prime Minister, the upcoming exercises will involve not only Polish military personnel but also contingents from France and the United Kingdom. This will mark the first practical step for the 'Coalition of the Willing,' which previously convened in Paris. The main objective of the maneuvers is to refine mechanisms that will ensure the security of the Ukrainian state and the entire region after a peace agreement is reached with Russia or active armed hostilities cease.

"These will be exercises that prepare the entire Coalition for real security guarantees for Ukraine, as well as for the region," Tusk explained, emphasizing the practical nature of the event.

Outlook for the Winter Period

Discussing the current dynamics of the conflict, Donald Tusk expressed skepticism regarding a swift end to the war. He believes that a rapid achievement of peace in the near future is unlikely. In the opinion of the Polish leader, Russia intends to continue hostilities at least until the onset of winter.

"It currently seems unlikely that a ceasefire or peace agreement will be reached in the near future, given Russia's and Putin's hardline stance," stated the head of the Polish government. He formulated these conclusions following consultations with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Context of International Support

The announcement of the exercises comes against the backdrop of intensified military and diplomatic pressure on Moscow. Earlier, Warsaw officially declared its decision regarding the deployment of peacekeepers for Ukraine. Furthermore, Kyiv authorities received confirmation of the delivery of French Rafale fighter jets and licenses for the production of SCALP missiles. French President Emmanuel Macron has already revealed the first details of these agreements, indicating a growing role for Western partners in ensuring Kyiv's defense capabilities.
