Warsaw has given an official response to the statement by the Ukrainian leader regarding the need to reset relations between the two countries. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk positively assessed the steps taken by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy aimed at intensifying the dialogue between the states.
The official reaction from the head of the Polish government was published on the social network X. Tusk emphasized that he perceives the words and decisions of his Ukrainian colleague with "pleasure and hope".
Conditions for equal partnership
In his comment, Donald Tusk outlined the fundamental principles on which, in his opinion, relations between Warsaw and Kyiv should be built. He stated that cooperation must be based exclusively on "mutual respect and truth".
The Polish Prime Minister also confirmed his side's readiness for "serious and friendly dialogue". Tusk noted that this format of communication should cover the entire spectrum of issues: from topics that unite the two countries to those that are currently a subject of disagreement.
Prerequisites for a new stage of relations
The initiative from Kyiv arose against the backdrop of recent events related to the anniversary of the Volhynian tragedy. Poland adopted a corresponding resolution, to which Kyiv responded with a call for an equal dialogue.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced five specific decisions aimed at improving bilateral relations. The President emphasized that Ukraine strives for good-neighborly, equal, and mutually beneficial ties with all partners in Europe. As part of this strategy, the head of state instructed the government to intensify contacts with Warsaw.
