The Ukrainian food market has undergone another price adjustment. As of Thursday, July 30, leading retail chains in the country updated the prices for a number of basic food products. The changes affected essential goods such as sunflower oil, bakery products, and buckwheat groats.
According to monitoring data conducted by RBC-Ukraine, the price dynamics were mixed. While the cost of vegetable oil and baked goods underwent significant changes, prices for dairy products and eggs remained stable. Experts note that such volatility is characteristic of the current stage of market development, although consumers have had the opportunity to compare offers in the largest chains.
Price overview in the largest chains
Analysts conducted a detailed calculation of the cost of a shopping basket in the four largest Ukrainian retailers: «Silpo», ATB, Novus, and «Auchan». A comparative analysis showed that even within a single day, prices for identical goods can vary depending on the brand and the pricing policy of a specific store.
The most noticeable changes were recorded in the category of vegetable oils and bakery products. Consumers planning to stock up on groceries for the week are advised to familiarize themselves with current offers in advance, as the cost of basic ingredients for everyday meals differs significantly from previous periods.
Stability in dairy product categories
Despite the revision of price tags for a number of goods, some categories have demonstrated resilience. The cost of eggs and milk in most of the checked chains remained unchanged. This suggests that manufacturers and suppliers in these segments are not yet resorting to raising retail prices, trying to maintain customer loyalty amidst instability.
Infographics prepared by RBC-Ukraine journalists visualize the current situation on store shelves. Visual data confirms that as of July 30, Ukrainian supermarkets offer some of the lowest prices for basic products compared to previous periods, although the price spread within chains remains significant.
