Ukraine has received specific timelines for the creation of its own ballistic missile defense system. During a meeting of the new anti-ballistic coalition, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he hopes to see the Freyja project operational within the next 12 months. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the head of state's statement on Telegram.

Growing Threat and the Need for a Response

The leader of Ukraine emphasized that the threat of ballistic missile use worldwide will only increase. According to Zelenskyy, this is one of the key consequences of current military conflicts, specifically the wars involving Russia and Iran. Therefore, the implementation of the Freyja project must become a reality as soon as possible.

Technical Details of the System

The key element of the future shield will be the development by the Ukrainian company Fire Point. During the presentation, the company demonstrated a video of the FP-7.x anti-ballistic missile. The displayed sample has a proper cylindrical shape with a fairing, and the lower part is equipped with relatively small movable stabilizers.

According to data presented by the developers, the Freyja complex will be fully functional by the end of 2026. In June of this year, Fire Point conducted the first test of the FP-7.X missile, which will form the basis of the new system.

Pan-European Shield

The concept of the Freyja system goes beyond a national project. It is intended to be a pan-European anti-ballistic shield owned jointly by partner countries. The idea of cooperation received political form on July 13, when the leaders of Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom signed a joint declaration on the creation of the Integrated Coalition for Missile Defense.
