A North Korean missile unit has begun deploying in western Russia. According to the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, as reported by Reuters, the Kremlin plans to use this contingent to intensify ballistic missile strikes against Ukrainian territory.
Scale of Deployment and Armament
Andriy Yermak, a representative of the GUR, stated that this represents a significant boost to the adversary's missile potential. Available information suggests the North Korean unit may be equipped with six launchers and 120 ballistic missiles. The personnel strength of the unit is expected to be around 90 individuals.
The deployment is planned for the Voronezh region. DPRK military personnel will be integrated into the Russian 112nd Missile Brigade. Moscow is making this decision against the backdrop of Ukraine's acute shortage of modern air defense systems. The Russian command sees this as an opportunity to more frequently employ ballistic missiles, which remain an extremely difficult task to intercept.
Weapon Deliveries and Negotiations
Pyongyang has already fulfilled part of its obligations to Moscow by transferring a new batch of weapons. Russia received 40 ballistic missiles of the KN-23 and KN-24 models, along with personnel for their maintenance. Despite the deployment already underway, the final configuration of the grouping and the total number of missiles will be agreed upon during high-level negotiations scheduled for next month.
The exact role of North Korean military personnel in Russian operations remains unknown for now. However, the mere fact of their presence and integration into a Russian brigade indicates deep coordination between the two countries in the military sphere.

On the morning of August 5, the Ukrainian air defense system failed to shoot down a single missile during a new Russian attack. These data confirm intelligence concerns that Russia is deliberately using new capabilities to bypass Ukrainian defenses.

The consequences of the attacks are becoming tragic: eight people were killed in the Brovary district of the Kyiv region as a result of the strikes.
