A large-scale emergency is unfolding in Kyiv. In the Solomianskyi district, rocket debris struck a residential five-story building, trapping residents inside. A major fire has broken out at the scene.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed the incident in his Telegram channel, stating that emergency services are already heading to the site to evacuate people and extinguish the fire.
Scale of destruction in the capital
The situation in the city goes beyond a single incident. According to the head of the Kyiv City State Administration (Kyiv City Council), the fire in the Solomianskyi district has also engulfed a non-residential building with six apartments. Additionally, cars caught fire in a parking lot in the same district.
Debris falls have been recorded in other administrative districts of the capital as well:
- Holosiivskyi and Darnytskyi districts: debris fell in non-residential areas.
- Shevchenkivskyi district: a fire was recorded at a car wash.
Context of escalation
Kyiv and the Kyiv region regularly become targets of Russian military attacks, which use a wide range of weapons: from unmanned aerial vehicles to ballistic and hypersonic missiles. The consequences of these strikes often lead to infrastructure destruction and threats to the lives of civilians.
Rescue services and medical personnel in the capital are forced to work in emergency mode, eliminating the consequences of night shelling. On the night of August 1, the city was already attacked by ballistic missiles, accompanied by a series of powerful explosions. Earlier, on the night of July 30, a combined strike was launched against several regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, and the Vinnytsia region.
