Around 2:00 PM, powerful explosions rocked Kyiv during another massive air attack by Russian troops on the capital of Ukraine. The densely populated Obolon district came under fire, with direct hits and falling wreckage of enemy missiles recorded in residential areas. According to local authorities and rescue services, the situation required the immediate intervention of all emergency services in the city.
Consequences of the Strike and Fire Suppression
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that a missile hit a restaurant building in Obolon, where a large-scale fire instantly broke out. At the same time, wreckage from a downed missile crashed into the courtyard of a multi-story residential building, damaging nearby structures. Employees of the State Emergency Service (SES) promptly arrived at the scene, localizing three foci of ignition of wooden structures and dry grass in an open area totaling 200 square meters.
Victims and Medical Assistance
As a result of the enemy strike, at least 7 people were injured. Initially, reports mentioned four wounded, but operational groups of medics and rescuers continued to find victims at the scene. Five of the wounded were urgently hospitalized in specialized departments of city hospitals, with three of them in critical condition. Two other victims received medical assistance directly on the spot from ambulance crews.
Contradictory Data
Initially, varying data regarding the number of casualties and the extent of infrastructure damage appeared in the information space: the first minutes after the strike indicated four wounded, but as debris was cleared and medics worked at the locations, the figure quickly rose to seven people. Official reports from the SES and Kyiv City State Administration updated data in real time as confirmed information from the emergency sites arrived.
Security Context and Leadership Reaction
Amid ongoing attacks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy issued another warning to the population, emphasizing that the threat of new missile strikes from the Russian Federation remains at a high level. At the same time, capital mayor Vitali Klitschko refuted rumors about alleged calls for evacuation from Kyiv, assuring that city authorities are keeping the situation under control and preparing for any possible scenarios during the wartime period.
