On Monday evening, October 26, Russian occupation forces launched a missile strike on Kyiv. As a result of the attack, the campus of the State University of Trade and Economics (SUTE) suffered severe damage. Academic buildings, laboratories, and a dormitory housing over 200 people came under fire. Two students — a young man and a young woman — were wounded. Both victims were hospitalized. The university will switch to a remote learning format in the near future, RBC-Ukraine reports.

Scale of destruction on the university grounds

According to the publication, the enemy attack damaged several academic buildings, laboratory facilities, and the student dormitory. RBC-Ukraine published footage capturing the aftermath of the strike on the SUTE campus. The destruction spans a significant portion of the educational institution's infrastructure, making normal routine operations impossible. University Rector Anatolii Mazaraki, speaking after the shelling, stated: "We will rebuild. As you can see, work has already begun." Thus, the university management confirmed the damage and announced the launch of restoration efforts.

Condition of the wounded students

As a result of the missile strike, two students — a male and a female — were injured. Both victims were taken to the hospital. Information about the severity of their condition has not been disclosed in the provided materials. In the near future, the university will operate remotely to ensure the safety of students and staff while restoration work is carried out on the campus grounds.

Nighttime ballistic missile attack and consequences for Kyiv's infrastructure

On the night of October 27, Russian occupation forces continued their attack on Kyiv using ballistic missiles. An impact was recorded near one of the capital's metro stations. In addition, an ambulance crew responding to a call came under fire, creating additional risks for the emergency response system amid ongoing strikes.

Damage to the South Bridge and changes in metro operations

The nighttime strike damaged the South Bridge and the metro infrastructure located on it. Due to the sustained damage, traffic across the bridge was temporarily blocked in both directions. The operations of the capital's metro system were altered following the failure of part of its infrastructure. These restrictions affect thousands of passengers for whom the South Bridge is a key transport artery connecting different parts of the city.

Context: a series of attacks on civilian infrastructure

The strike on the SUTE campus and the nighttime ballistic missile attack are part of an ongoing series of Russian strikes on Kyiv's civilian infrastructure. The damage to educational institutions, transport arteries, and metro facilities indicates that Russian forces are not limiting themselves exclusively to military targets. The university's transition to remote work and the temporary closure of one of the capital's key bridges demonstrate the direct impact of missile attacks on the daily lives of the city's residents.
