Samsung has unveiled an affordable 14-inch Galaxy Book 6 laptop running Windows 11, which the manufacturer intends to position as a competitor to Apple's budget MacBook Neo. This is reported by RBC-Ukraine citing the Samsung Newsroom. The headline selling point of the new model is its energy efficiency: a 61.2 Wh battery delivers up to 25 hours of battery life on a single charge, significantly exceeding the 16 hours claimed by its main rival. A 45 W fast-charging adapter can replenish the battery by 33 percent in just 30 minutes.
New Intel architecture and neural computing
At the heart of the Galaxy Book 6 lies the new Intel Core Series 3 lineup built on the Wildcat Lake architecture. Depending on the configuration, the device is equipped with Intel Core 3 chips (entry level, likely Core 3304) and Intel Core 5 chips (mid level, likely Core 5315). Both processors feature a neural processing unit (NPU) with performance of up to 15 TOPS, enabling local AI algorithms to be processed directly on the device. Users can choose versions with 8 or 16 GB of LPDDR5X memory and PCIe storage of 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB.
Display, chassis, and ports
The Galaxy Book 6 features a 14-inch LCD display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and WUXGA resolution (1920x1200 pixels), a matte anti-glare coating, and a peak brightness of 350 nits. By comparison, the MacBook Neo display offers a higher pixel density (2408x1506) and a brightness of 500 nits. The device is built in a thin, symmetrical chassis 15.7 mm thick and weighing 1.35 kg, and is available in two colors: classic gray (Gray) and a new-for-the-series violet-silver (Violet Silver). Unlike many ultrabooks, the new model comes with an expanded set of ports that eliminates the need for adapters.
Galaxy AI and ecosystem integration
The laptop supports the proprietary Galaxy AI feature set, including the AI Select tool for quickly searching information and cropping photos, as well as Note Assist for automatically generating summaries of notes.
