The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGS) has confirmed that all border crossing points are functioning in normal mode. Border guards continue to process the movement of citizens and vehicles, and the service specifically emphasized that this also applies to those checkpoints that have previously been targeted by Russian shelling. No official announcement has been received at this time regarding the suspension of operations or the restriction of functioning at any of the points.
Normal mode even at previously shelled checkpoints
As noted by the Border Guard Service, the situation at the crossing points remains stable: border guards are on duty and ensuring the crossing of the border in the usual manner. The service paid particular attention to the fact that normal mode is maintained even at those points that have been subjected to attacks in recent days. This means that, according to border guard data, none of the points has been permanently taken out of operation due to enemy strikes.
Passenger traffic: figures from the Border Guard Service
SBGS representative Andrii Demchenko provided the latest figures on border crossings. According to him, on weekdays approximately 110,000 citizens cross the border, while during the summer period this figure was 110,000–115,000. On weekends, passenger traffic fluctuates at around 120,000–125,000 crossings, whereas during the summer period it reached approximately 150,000. These figures indicate that, despite the deterioration of the situation, the flow of citizens through border checkpoints remains high and stable.
Attacks on border checkpoints in recent days
In recent days, several crossing points on the Ukrainian border have been attacked by Russia. On the night of September 9, the international crossing point of "Staryi Kozachyi" on the border with Moldova was attacked by strike drones; as a result, there are fatalities and injured. Previously, the enemy attacked the "Orlivka" checkpoint on the border with Romania, after which the point temporarily ceased operations. Thus, statements about normal mode are made against the backdrop of real combat strikes on border infrastructure.
Contradictory data
There are certain inconsistencies in the official statements and facts that are important to reflect honestly. On the one hand, the SBGS asserts that "all crossing points are operating in normal mode" and does not report the cessation of their functioning. On the other hand, in the same context it is acknowledged that the "Orlivka" checkpoint "temporarily ceased operations" after the attack, and at the "Staryi Kozachyi" point there are fatalities and injured as a result of the drone strike. In other words, the general formulation of normal mode coexists with the facts of temporary suspensions and human casualties at individual points. The difference between "temporarily ceased operations" and "everything is operating normally" may be explained by the restoration of the crossing regime after local incidents; however, the very fact of the temporary cessation of functioning of individual checkpoints is not directly denied in the service's statements.
