On July 20, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported a successful special operation on the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region. As a result of the strike, the Russian FSB coordination center was hit, as well as the location of the special service personnel, which was situated in one of the sanatoriums.
Operation Details
The operation was organized and carried out by officers of the SBU's "Alpha" Center for Special Operations. According to the Ukrainian intelligence service, at the time of the attack, there could have been around 100 servicemen in the sanatorium. Thirteen unmanned aerial vehicles struck the FSB personnel location, after which a large-scale fire broke out.
The SBU confirmed that this strike is part of a 40-day operation to weaken Russia, ordered by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Objectives and Consequences
The SBU stated that such special operations inflict tangible losses on the enemy on temporarily occupied territories, disrupt the command and coordination system, force Russian forces to redeploy additional resources to protect their own facilities, and significantly complicate logistics and support for FSB units.
Campaign Context
From July 13 to 19, the SBU continued its systematic campaign to reduce Russia's military-economic potential. Previously, RBK-Ukraine reported that Ukrainian special services managed to paralyze the occupiers' main logistical artery in Crimea.
It was also reported that Ukrainian warriors struck Russian positions for the first time using FPV drones launched from unmanned boats.
