The situation in Ukraine's logistics sector remains tense amid ongoing attacks by Russian occupiers. Today, on Friday, July 31, the city of Poltava was once again targeted by enemy shelling. A critical infrastructure object — the sorting terminal of the company «Nova Poshta» — was hit.
Liquidation of consequences and employee status
According to information published by RBC-Ukraine citing a statement from the company itself, work to liquidate the consequences of the attack is currently underway at the scene. The full extent of the damage and details regarding the condition of the damaged cargo will be clarified in the near future.
The top priority in such situations is personnel safety. In a statement, «Nova Poshta» confirmed that all employees were in shelters during the strike. Thanks to this, it was possible to avoid casualties and injuries among the terminal workers.
Compensations and logistics operations
The company has already stated its position regarding the fate of shipments destroyed as a result of Russian aggression. Customers will be compensated for the declared value of all cargo that could not be saved. This decision is intended to minimize financial losses for citizens and businesses.
To prevent a collapse in delivery, «Nova Poshta» has promptly deployed reserve logistics routes. This will help smooth out possible delays in the network's operations. Customers can track the current status of their shipments in the mobile app or on the operator's official website.
Chain of attacks on infrastructure
The incident in Poltava on July 31 was not an isolated case of an attack on logistics hubs. On the night of July 30, during a massive strike on Ukraine, Russian military forces struck the same sorting terminal in Poltava. Then, as today, employees managed to take cover, and there were no casualties.
On that same day, July 30, a similar attack occurred in Dnipro, where another «Nova Poshta» terminal caught fire as a result of shelling.
The situation is also worsening in other regions. On the morning of July 31, Russian occupiers struck a «Nova Poshta» branch in the Vinnytsia region. Unlike the Poltava incident, this attack resulted in casualties.
