A high-profile incident involving the use of firearms against staff of the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center (TCC) occurred in Odesa. On Sunday, August 2, a 32-year-old man opened fire on military personnel who were performing their official duties at the time.
Incident Details
According to the Odesa Regional Police, the attacker used a Flobert pistol — a small-caliber training revolver that fires without gunpowder. Although the weapon is classified as training equipment, the consequences were serious. Four people were injured as a result of the attack.
One of the injured was urgently hospitalized with a severe penetrating wound to the back. The other victims sustained injuries of varying degrees of severity. The incident occurred during so-called "mobilization activities."
Law Enforcement Response
The police responded promptly to the incident. The man who opened fire was detained at the scene. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against him under Part 2 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This article provides for liability for obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations.
Law enforcement officers seized the weapon, which will be sent for forensic examination to establish all the circumstances of the incident. In a statement published on Facebook, the TCC emphasized that its employees were on duty at the time of the attack.
