The "Silpo" supermarket chain has for the first time released a preliminary estimate of the financial losses incurred by the company as a result of Russian shelling during the first nine months of 2026. According to the financial statements of Silpo-Food LLC, published in the information system of the National Securities and Stock Market Commission and cited by RBC-Ukraine, losses for January–September amounted to UAH 1 billion 532.7 million. The company emphasizes that the final damage amount has not yet been determined and calculations are ongoing.

Structure of Losses: Current and Non-Current Assets

The largest share of losses consists of written-off current assets, totaling UAH 1.4 billion for the first nine months of 2026. For comparison, over the same period last year, the company wrote off only UAH 1 million in current assets due to the war. In addition, this year Silpo-Food wrote off non-current assets worth UAH 53.4 million. The gap between the two years clearly reflects the scale of damage sustained by stores and distribution centers as a result of the attacks.

Scale of Damage to Fozzy Group Facilities

According to the company, since August 2026, Russian strikes have damaged or destroyed more than 20 Fozzy Group facilities, the parent group of Silpo-Food. The affected assets include distribution centers, supermarkets, and production facilities. These categories account for the bulk of the recorded write-offs.

Company Response and Cooperation with Law Enforcement

Following each instance of property destruction or damage, the enterprise filed crime reports with law enforcement agencies. On-site photo and video documentation of the condition of the facilities was carried out, inspection acts were drawn up, and property inventories were organized. Currently, the company is processing the inventory results, restoring stores, and continuing to assess the total extent of the damage.

Impact on Logistics and the Food Market

This context is supplemented by an assessment from the Retailers Association of Ukraine (RAU), cited by Delo.ua: there is currently no systemic food shortage caused by attacks on distribution centers, but logistics infrastructure damage is causing local delivery delays and temporary assortment reductions in certain chains and regions. The fresh category (dairy, meat, fish, eggs, vegetables) remains the most vulnerable. In response, the retail sector is shifting toward a more decentralized logistics model: redistributing commodity flows among regional warehouses, utilizing backup routes, establishing direct supplies from producers, and implementing cross-docking.

What's Next

Thus, the preliminary figure of UAH 1.53 billion is the estimate the company is prepared to confirm at this stage. The final figure will become known after the completion of the inventory and assessment of all damaged facilities, while the restoration of the chain and logistics infrastructure will proceed in parallel with the legal processing of the damages.
