Elon Musk's SpaceX continues to change the rules of the game in the field of satellite internet. This time, a new Starlink V5 terminal has taken the stage, immediately attracting the attention of experts with its incredible compactness and high efficiency. This update promises to make high-speed internet access more mobile and accessible for users around the world.
Drastic Reduction in Dimensions
The main difference of the new model is its size. The Starlink V5 terminal measures 384 by 306 mm. For comparison: the previous flagship Standard V4 model occupied 594 by 383 mm. The new device is significantly smaller, approaching the size of the portable Starlink Mini version, while retaining the power and capabilities of full-size terminals.
Lightweight and Mobility
The weight of the new terminal is only 1.1 kg — that is 62% lighter than its predecessor. Such lightness opens new horizons for using the equipment in travel, expeditions, and in hard-to-reach regions. Experts note that this is particularly relevant for work in mountainous and remote areas, for example, in Uzbekistan, where access to stable internet is often limited.
Compact Mini Router and Mesh System
Along with the V5 terminal, the company also presented a new compact Mini router. It supports the modern Wi-Fi 6 standard and allows creating a Mesh system — a network of several devices providing seamless coverage. According to SpaceX engineers, these innovations will simplify equipment installation and accelerate the global spread of satellite internet.
Thus, Starlink V5 is not just an update, but a qualitative leap in the development of satellite technologies, making fast internet accessible where it was previously unreachable.
