On August 5, the Odesa region was once again hit by Russian aggression. Enemy combat drones attacked civilian objects and a local enterprise, causing serious damage to infrastructure and resulting in casualties.
Casualties and Injured
According to Oleksandr Kiper, the Head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, one person died as a result of the attack. Another eight civilians sustained injuries of varying severity. Seven of the injured were urgently hospitalized for medical assistance.
"I express my condolences to the relatives and loved ones of the deceased. Eight more people were injured, seven of whom were hospitalized," Kiper stated, commenting on the tragic consequences of the attack.
Consequences of the Attack on the Enterprise
The target of the strike was an enterprise in the Odesa district. As a result of the attack, fires broke out on the site, engulfing parked cars. Photos from the scene show burnt car bodies, completely destroyed by fire.
Rescue services arrived promptly and managed to quickly extinguish the fires, preventing further spread of the flames. All relevant services, including firefighters, medical personnel, and law enforcement, are working at the scene.
War Crime Against Civilians
Oleksandr Kiper emphasized that law enforcement agencies are documenting another Russian war crime against the civilian population. The attack on civilian objects and an enterprise that is not a military target violates norms of international humanitarian law.
Context of Escalation
This is not the only attack on the Odesa region in recent days. On August 4, Russian occupiers struck a crowded place near Odesa with missiles, and on August 3, they struck the region's transport infrastructure. On the night of August 5, Ukraine's air defense forces repelled a massive enemy attack, shooting down numerous targets.
The situation in the Odesa region remains tense. Authorities are urging the population to observe safety precautions and be prepared for possible new attacks.
