During the night, the Ukrainian cities of Sumy and Mykolaiv became targets of new attacks by Russian military forces. Strikes using guided aerial bombs resulted in the destruction of residential districts and the deaths of civilians, including children and the elderly.
Tragedy in Sumy: children killed under rubble
According to Oleksandr Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Russian troops attacked the city with guided aerial bombs. As a result of a hit on a residential building, two children — 5-year-old and 10-year-old girls — were killed. Their bodies were recovered from under the debris of the destroyed building.
In total, six guided aerial bombs were fired at civilian infrastructure in Sumy. Two more munitions were shot down by air defense forces before reaching populated areas. Despite this, the damage from the attack was significant: both private homes and non-residential buildings were damaged or completely destroyed.
Four residents of the city sought medical assistance. They were diagnosed with acute stress reaction. Work continues on-site to survey the area and clear up the aftermath of the strike.
Mykolaiv: 89-year-old woman killed
In Mykolaiv, the consequences of the attack were also severe. The city mayor, Oleksandr Senkevych, reported the death of an 89-year-old woman. “Russians killed an 89-year-old woman. My condolences,” the mayor wrote on social media.
According to him, both private homes and multi-apartment buildings suffered significant damage. Seven more people were injured as a result of the strike. City services continue to assess the damage and assist the victims.
Continued attacks on civilian infrastructure
Attacks on peaceful Ukrainian cities continue. Earlier, Russian forces destroyed a branch of “Nova Poshta” — a key logistics facility used daily by thousands of citizens. There were also recorded strikes by “Shahed” drones on port infrastructure in the Mykolaiv region, causing serious damage to the region’s economy.
The situation remains tense. Authorities urge the population to observe safety measures and stay in shelters when the alarm sounds. The international community continues to condemn attacks on civilian objects, yet the escalation of violence persists.
