Sumy after the strike: 5 dead, 43 injured, and massive rescue operations

Operations to eliminate the consequences of the Russian strike with guided aerial bombs, carried out on July 11, continue in Sumy. The number of injured has risen to 43 people, and five people have died.

Scale of destruction

The epicenter of the Russian strike was a road, a public transport stop, residential buildings, and parked cars. As a result of the explosions, hundreds of windows and balcony structures in apartment buildings were damaged, and dozens of vehicles were destroyed and damaged.

"From the first minutes after the strike, rescuers, police, medics, utility and emergency services were working at the scene. They were saving people, extinguishing fires, clearing the area, and restoring damaged networks. By night, it was possible to restore traffic and water supply," the statement says.

Help from volunteers and partners

The head of the RMA noted that from early morning, volunteers, charitable foundations, and international partners had massively joined the work. They are recording damage, delivering building materials, covering broken windows, and helping residents complete documents to receive compensation.

According to Oleksandr Hryhorov, more than 300 damaged window and balcony structures were covered during the day. Hundreds of families have already received the necessary building materials, humanitarian aid, as well as legal and psychological support.

Situation with the injured

At the moment, it is known that five civilians died as a result of the strike with three guided aerial bombs. Medical assistance has already been provided to 43 injured people, five of whom are in critical condition. Work to eliminate the consequences of the shelling continues.

Other attacks in Ukraine

As Novyny.LIVE wrote, on July 12, a Russian UAV attacked a fuel truck in Sloviansk. As a result of the shelling, a fire broke out and fuel spilled onto the adjacent territory.

In addition, the occupiers attacked an industrial enterprise in Kryvyi Rih four times during the day. A fire broke out at the scene, but there were no casualties.
