On the night of August 10, 2026, the city of Sumy became the target of a new series of airstrikes by Russian occupiers. According to the Sumy Regional Military Administration (RMA), the enemy used aviation bombs (KABs) to attack civilian objects and residential areas. As a result of the strikes, building damage and casualties among the civilian population were recorded.

Oleh Hryhorov, Head of the Sumy RMA, reported in his Telegram channel that there were at least five strikes on civilian infrastructure in the city. "At least five people were injured. The full scale of the consequences is being clarified," he wrote. According to him, impacts were recorded at three locations in two districts of the city.

"Private houses, apartment buildings, and infrastructure objects were damaged," he informed. In particular, residential buildings, shops, and utility facilities were affected. There are discrepancies in the estimates of the number of bombs dropped. The Ukrainian Air Force reports five strikes, while a source from svoboda.org claims that Russian troops dropped eight aviation bombs on Sumy. This is not the first attack on Sumy this year. On the night of August 6, Russian occupiers also launched airstrikes on the city, resulting in damage to high-rise buildings, non-residential buildings, shops, and infrastructure objects. Furthermore, casualties were recorded. Even earlier, on the night of August 4, Sumy was subjected to a similar attack, during which residential houses and non-residential structures were destroyed. Thus, the city remains in a zone of constant risk and requires enhanced protection.
