On the morning of August 1, an attack on civilian personnel occurred in the Chernihiv region. Russian occupiers used unmanned aerial vehicles to attack the crew of a mobile postal unit. The incident took place near the village of Pushkary while employees were carrying out their work duties.
This was reported by the General Director of Ukrposhta, Ihor Smilianskyi, in his Telegram channel. According to him, two people were injured as a result of the strike. The head of the unit, Olesya, sustained minor injuries, while the driver, Roman, was seriously wounded.
Rescue and Treatment of the Injured
The situation could have turned out more tragically if not for the quick reaction of local residents. They promptly transported the injured employees to the hospital in their personal vehicles. Thanks to timely assistance, the driver Roman's life is no longer in danger. He has already undergone surgery and is currently recovering.
Ihor Smilianskyi confirmed that the company employees received medical assistance, however, the incident once again highlights the high level of danger faced by civilian services in frontline and occupied regions.
Context of Mass Strikes
The attack on the postal unit became part of a massive wave of aggression launched by Russia against Ukraine on the night of August 1. During this period, the enemy launched 35 missiles and 185 strike drones at the country. Air defense forces managed to shoot down only one ballistic missile out of 27 launched.
The main strike hit the Kyiv region, but Dnipropetrovshchyna, Sumshchyna, Kharkivshchyna, and Poltavshchyna were also subjected to shelling. In the capital, a massive attack with ballistic missiles led to destruction and fires in five districts: Solomianskyi, Darnytskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Dniprovskyi, and Pecherskyi. Nine people died, 30 were injured, including four children.
Parallel to this, in the morning, Russians attacked warehouse facilities on the outskirts of Brovary, where one person died. On the day of August 1, Odesa was also hit by drones: an unmanned aerial vehicle crashed into a multi-story residential building in the center of the city.
